Hello, my name is Shane.
I am not as much of a regular as I use to be, as it's been a rough last couple of years. I am hoping that will change very shortly.
I am an Oregonian who spent 14 years in Southern California as a Software QA Engineer and Alarm System Technician (12 in San Diego and 2 in Palm Springs, respectively) but I have returned home to Portland Oregon. I am obsessed with food, to the point that I named my Standard Poodle after a restaurant (The Truffle Hunter) though I just call him "Hunter".
I have been baking as a hobby for years (lots of birthday cakes, cause everyone should have a cake on their birthday) It runs in the blood... Mom is a Pie maker, Grandma is a cake baker and my Brother is the cookie monster. I tend to be a jack of all trades, master of none when it comes to baking.
Over the last 5 I have begun cooking in earnest and finding that I have a love affair with Italian food. Most recently I have been branching out a little more into Provincial French cuisine...
I am an advocate for making Organic choices when possible, though in reality it's not always possible. I am a supporter of the anti-GMO movement. No one should have Round-up freely sprayed on their food just because it's resistant, the plant may be but humans are not.
I am an avid hiker/cyclist and am currently studying SharePoint Development so I can pass my Microsoft Technical Specialist certification.
Yes, Computer Geek by day, Mad Chef by night... _________________ ~ Shane

How fun this is to read about you all and get caught up!!
Hello....my name is Danielle and I live in Los Angeles (just over the hill from Babette...{{{{wave to Babs}}}}) I'm 46 (but don't feel mature enough to be LOL) and have been married for 23 yrs. We have 2 beautiful daughters....Natalie is 21 and Jacqueline is 19. We use to have a whole bunch of pets (hazard of working at a pet store, previously) but now we only have 1 cat, Moshi and an African Grey Parrot named Scotty. I work for a non-profit agency that provides therapy for children with special needs. We have about 60 therapists that I schedule.
I discovered Bakespace after watching the news one morning....puttered around the "kitchen" part for about a year before I ventured over to the forum side...looking for friends, which I found in abundance. I've always enjoyed cooking but Bakespace has been the facilitator in making it into a passion. Because of my Beeps (bakespace peeps) I have grown and expanded and learned how to think outside the box. And now I have a new hobby....food blogging!! _________________ Danielle

I guess I need to get my bio on here, just been putting it off.
My name is Sheryle, my screen name I chose when I first started posting to forums. At the time I was baking a lot of cookies and sneaking them into my office as a treat and surprise for my co-workers. It was during a time when morale was low and my co-workers and I all needed cheering up. I enjoyed doing it and they all had fun trying to figure out who the mystery baker was….most never did.
I discovered BakeSpace in October of 2006, soon after it was created. I had lost my mother several months before and after being responsible for her care for many years, needed something to fill the empty space in my life and this was just the place and the people here helped me make it through a very difficult time. I’ve made a lot of good friends over the years; even have been able to meet a few.
I’m single, never married, but have a large extended family that can keep me very busy at times. Never a mother but have been an aunt for as long as I can remember (my eldest sister is 17 years older than me, her daughter was born when I was just over a year old, and thanks to her grandson I’m now a great-great aunt or great-grandaunt, never sure what I’m called ), some of my older nieces and nephews are more like siblings or cousins, with the younger ones I really enjoyed being an aunt….was the young fun aunt and could enjoy them and then give them back to their parents when I was tired of them.
I’m a confirmed bachelorette but did meet someone almost three years ago who I like to spend time with. Michael and I met online in the fall of 2008 and even though it’s a long distance relationship, we live about 120 miles apart, things seem to be going well. Now that I’m retired we are able to spend more time together. I don’t see marriage in our future…..I’m just too old and set in my ways to start living with someone 24/7.
After 32 years, I retired January 1, 2010 from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio…not to be confused with that other school, the University of Miami, which is in Florida. If you ever want to get on the bad side of anyone connected to Miami University, just refer to it as Miami of Ohio then stand back. As we usually say, “Miami University was a school (founded in 1809) before Florida was a state.” Anyway, I’ve been retired over a year and still love it!
I like to read, cook, bake, spend time with family and friends, ride bikes, take pictures (although I’m not very good at that). I also love music and like to sing and play a little piano and guitar (not great at any of it but love it anyway)…..haven’t done much of it in ages. I want to get back to crocheting and doing needlepoint and would love to learn how to knit.
As usual, I got a little carried away and practically wrote a book. I guess most of you are used to that by now. _________________ Sheryle

Hello there, my name is Nelly, I am a baker and blogger with a slight obsession with social networking. I am 25 years old, I live in the North-east of England with my boyfriend of 5 years and our cat; Tails.
I first joined Bakespace many years ago, I discovered it one day while googling around trying to find people like myself to connect with. And that's exactly what I found! The people I have met here are amazing and I am proud to say I am still in touch with many of them.
I love it here and a great big thank you to everyone for inspiring me, teaching me and showing me how to be a better baker. _________________ Nelly xx
