Why I want to be mentor in this category: So many people I talk to are afraid of pie crust and so don't attempt homemade pies. Once they lose their fear, pies often become their signature dish. How fun is that?!
What inspires me in this category: My grandmother was a professional baker. Pies, cakes and cookies were her specialties. She passed her knowledge to my mom, who in turn passed it on to me. Baking is a family tradition.
Experience: I have been making pies from scratch and teaching others how to make them for over 20 years.
Biggest Lesson Learned: Although pie crust shouldn't be handled too much, it is nothing to be afraid of.
Education, Awards, Pro Experience: Besides being taught to bake by the best (mom & grandma), I have in turn taught pie baking classes myself.
Don't cut a warm fruit pie or it will run all over the place.
