Why I want to be mentor in this category: I love to entertain, but more than that I love to show people that they too can entertain...and enjoy it! I want cooking and healthy eating to be a source of joy for people, not a source of stress, and I have lots of tips and ideas to help home cooks get to this point.
What inspires me in this category: Some people freak out a little when they're having guests for dinner or asked to bring something to a party. But these situations don't have to be stressful! There are easy, tasty, and beautiful ways you can prepare food for your family & friends -- you'll be the only one to know it only took you a few minutes.
Experience: I am a personal chef who has catered parties and events of all kinds. I specialize in tasty recipes that 1) are easy to prepare, and 2) can be altered according to what you have lying around.
Biggest Lesson Learned: 1) Improvising in the kitchen is the key to being a good cook.rn2) The only way to enjoy cooking is to practice, so that you become confident enough to let your creativity shine.
Books, classes, teachers that have helped me: I have primarily learned what I know through trial & error. Mistakes in the kitchen are great learning experiences! Besides that, I head to Eating Well magazine, Great Food Fast (Martha Stewart Everyday Food cookbook) and the Barefoot Contessa when I need some guidance.
Education, Awards, Pro Experience: Master's Degrees in nutrition and public health, 5 years experience personal cheffing & catering
