KATHY GORI'S MENTOR PROFILE
My Indian Corner
Why I want to be mentor in this category:
I've cooked for some of the Dalai Lama's monks, the Director of the Delhi Museum and President Clinton's California campaign staff. I'm always learning and like to share my knowledge and love of Indian cooking with others.
What inspires me in this category:
I find the many traditions and techniques of the Indian kitchen fascinating
I've been cooking Indian food for 20 years. I make my own chutneys, and pickles, grind my own spices, and bake Indian breads and paneer cheese.
Biggest Lesson Learned:
That cooking is a meditation. It is a calming and precise thing. To lose oneself in the food and the experience is part of the pleasure. Outside of the eating that is.
Books, classes, teachers that have helped me:
Yamuna Devi author of Lord Krishnas' Cuisine , Madhur Jaffreys' books, and my mentor Paula Wolfert who introduced me to traditional clay pot cooking
