Why I want to be mentor in this category: Because there aren't many of us canners out there...
What inspires me in this category: I want to live a sustainable life. It's that simple. Buying local, seasonal food and putting it up so it's there in the winter months keeps me in touch with the world around me. And I love looking at the shelves of sparkly jars and appreciating everyone's hard work that creates that bounty.
Experience: I have a lot of experience in home canning. But can't figure out what category that would be. I can/put up jam, jelly, confiture, conserve, pie fillings, whole fruit, liquor, wines, fish & meat, pickles and kraut, chutney, relish and fruit juices. Perhaps I can be of some help to someone out there?
Biggest Lesson Learned: how not to create botulism. :)
