Why I want to be mentor in this category: I think I'm proficient in all aspects of vegetarian Indian cuisine and can help others learn the same. I love Indian food, its my passion! I can come up with precise recipes or help people on how to use the Indian spices. Also, a lot of people have a myth about Indian food being complicated and greasy. I would love to break this myth and help people understand the simple home cooked Indian meals, show them how easy they are to make with just a few extra ingredients in the pantry!
What inspires me in this category: Indian cuisine is a part of me. I cannot live without Indian food. I learnt all that I know from my mother and would like to share this knowledge with everyone.
Experience: I have been eating home cooked Indian food ever since I was born!! I started cooking full time about 6 years ago and have been enjoying it thoroughly. I started a food blog http://ambikaskitchen.com 2 years ago to share my recipes with the world!
Biggest Lesson Learned: Knowing the spices and ingredients is the first step towards understanding a cuisine. Know what you are dealing with and try to understand the when to use and how much to use.
Books, classes, teachers that have helped me: My Mother and various neighbors, books, TV shows and friends!!
Education, Awards, Pro Experience: I write my food blog at http://ambikaskitchen.com
Taste your food as you are cooking and make sure you season it well. Underseasoned food is as bad as undercooked food.
