Why I want to be mentor in this category:
I have made my repertoire of German recipes over and over again, always with delighted complimentals
What inspires me in this category:
My mother, her mother and her grandmother were all fabulous cooks, who owned restaurants in Bavaria.
My mother owned a German deli and restaurant, so my exposure to Bavarian food comes naturally. While my mother has passed away, I have continued to recreate her dishes for my brothers and passed the love of German food on to my son and niece. I'm trying to document how to make these dishes on my food blog and creating my own cookbook so that these recipes will not be lost.
Biggest Lesson Learned:
I cook with the freshest ingredients possible. I stick with authentic recipes, being careful not to "Americanize" the German food that I grew up with-- I did live there early in my childhood, too.
Books, classes, teachers that have helped me:
None. Just family heritage.
Education, Awards, Pro Experience:
I have no formal training-- just a passion for cooking and the patience to photograph and explain how to make the dishes on my food blog.
