HOWTOEATACUPCAKE'S MENTOR PROFILE
My Cupcakes Corner
Why I want to be mentor in this category:
When I first started baking, I learned everything I could from food blogs run by home bakers. Now that I've crammed my brain full of information, I'd love to share it!
What inspires me in this category:
I owe all of my cupcake inspiration to Cheryl from "Cupcake Bakeshop by Chockylit" and Natalie of "Bake & Destroy!"
I've been teaching myself to bake from scratch since April 2007. Since then I've made over 40 flavors of cupcakes and frostings! I've come a long way since my first vanilla cupcakes with vanilla buttercream!
Biggest Lesson Learned:
Never get frustrated when something goes wrong. The most important lessons aren't learned from getting things right; They're learned by making mistakes! Laugh about it, and keep trying until you get it right.
Books, classes, teachers that have helped me:
Currently, my favorite cookbooks are "Baking From My Home To Yours" by Dorie Greenspan, "Cupcakes" by Shelly Kaldunski, "Cupcakes!" by Elinor Klivans, and "Cupcakes From The Cake Mix Doctor" by Anne Byrn. For more cookbook recommendations, send me a messa
Education, Awards, Pro Experience:
Everything I know I've learned from food blogs, baking books, and my collection of over 25 cookbooks. I've also learned quite a bit from trial and error! I currently run a successful cupcake blog where my readers choose which flavor of cupcakes I'll be ba
- Bring butter and eggs to room temperature before baking (unless otherwise stated in a recipe).

- When it comes to mixing, LESS IS MORE after the flour has been added!
- Measure flour by scooping it into the cup with a spoon and leveling it off with the back of a butter knife.
