Why I want to be mentor in this category:
I love Eastern European cooking. This includes Slavic, Polish and German cooking.
What inspires me in this category:
I want folks to learn that this is just good down home cooking, just from a different place on a map.
Experience:
I've watched both my mom and grandmother who were born in Croatia, create wonderful food my whole life, and have been inspired to recreate many of their recipes.
Biggest Lesson Learned:
Watch it being made if you can, seeing something being created is very helpful in understanding the process.
Books, classes, teachers that have helped me:
I have many International cookbooks, but the best are the recipes that I have from my mom and grandmother.
Education, Awards, Pro Experience:
I'm retired now, but owned and ran two family style restaurants.
My Tips:
- Write it down...if you make changes to a recipe to suit your taste make sure you leave yourself a note.
