Why I want to be mentor in this category: Kosher/Jewish cooking has been a part of my life since I was a child, learning the old-fashioned ways of doing everything the way my Mother and Grandmother "Bubby" taught me.rnI've since learned to update the old recipes with a healthier twist, less schmaltz and more flavor.
What inspires me in this category: I grew up in a Kosher home, and now my Father lives with me and I make sure that he has all the traditional favorites for every Holliday and Shabbot.
Experience: I owned my own Kosher Catering company for many years, and before that I was a baker and cake decorator in a Kosher bakery. I have a collection of thousands of Kosher recipes for everything from Appetizers to Desserts, and everything in between!
Biggest Lesson Learned: I learned a great deal from my grandmother and mother, however they NEVER measured anything. I'm in the process of writing a Kosher Cookbook, and teaching myself how to measure and write a recipe that anyone can follow.
Education, Awards, Pro Experience: I worked as a baker and cake decorator for 8 years, and owned my own Kosher Catering company for many years. In my Catering company, I always did all the buying, cooking, baking and only hired help to serve and assist in cleaning up.
Although I've been a Caterer/Chef...I have always considered myself a Baker or "Closet Pastry Chef!"
