My Bread Corner

What inspires me in this category:
It is so amazing that mixing and kneading together a few basic ingredients can produce such amazing breads.

Experience:
I have taught myself to make bread through trial and error. I have no formal training but I do have patience and baking bread definitely requires patience.

Biggest Lesson Learned:
Baking is a science and if you don't follow the recipe exactly your results could be disappointing.

Books, classes, teachers that have helped me:
Hands on experience and Peater Reinhart's book The Bread Baker's Apprentice

My Tips:

  • Make sure your yeast is not expired and that you use the correct temperature water. If the water is to hot you could kill the yeast and if it is to cold it could not activate it.
  • Read through the recipe a few times before starting it and then just take it step by step and don't let the length of it intimidate you.

My Poultry Corner

Why I want to be mentor in this category:
I eat a lot of chicken and am always figuring out some new way to cook it. I think I might actually turn into a chicken soon. :)

Experience:
I have learned by doing. My family eats a lot of chicken so I am always trying to come up with new ways to fix it.

Biggest Lesson Learned:
.

My Tips:

  • The quickest and safest way to thaw chicken is in a bowl of sink of cold water.
