Why I want to be mentor in this category:
Although I am great at cooking anything from sweet to savory, cupcakes are my favorite which is why I have become so good at them!
What inspires me in this category:
Cupcakes inspire me because "mini" cakes are the best form of delectable. Each one can be given a personal touch based on whom you are serving.
Experience:
I have been cooking/baking all my life. I run Blackberry Bake Shop, a local delivery service for sweets in San Diego.
Biggest Lesson Learned:
Not to beat some doughs and batters smooth. Like with Pound cake.
Books, classes, teachers that have helped me:
2 years of schooling, plus days upon days of practice on my own time.
Education, Awards, Pro Experience:
Culinary school-AIA and random community classes, plus my mom taught me how to use the stove and oven at age 3...been cooking ever since
My Tips:
- Don't use generic chocolate.
- Ginger fixes everything
- Cheese can be for dessert
