Why I want to be mentor: My mom passed down her treasured family recipes so I feel like it's my turn to help those with less baking skills. Perhaps you may also teach me something too!

Lesson Learned: When baking try not to do it on a hot day. A hot kitchen is no fun and ultimately ruins your baked goods anyway.

Tip: when working with chocolate ganache and you don't have time for it to firm up, just put it in the fridge, bowl and all, for about 30 minutes. It will firm up. If it gets too firm, let it sit out for a few minutes.

Mentor In: Cupcakes

Why I want to be mentor: When I first started baking, I learned everything I could from food blogs run by home bakers. Now that I've crammed my brain full of information, I'd love to share it!

Lesson Learned: Never get frustrated when something goes wrong. The most important lessons aren't learned from getting things right; They're learned by making mistakes! Laugh about it, and keep trying until you get it right.

Tip: When it comes to mixing, LESS IS MORE after the flour has been added!

Sin Sweets

Redondo Beach, CA.

Mentor In: Cupcakes

Why I want to be mentor: I want to be a mentor in this category because my company Sin Sweets, LLC specializes in cupcakes and I feel that I have the most experience in this category when it comes to baked goods. I would like to help people and solve some of their problems so that baking can be more fun for them.

Lesson Learned: Some of the most important lessons I have learned include how to build a successful recipe, the function of leaveners/driers/moisteners/etc in baking, how to temper chocolate correctly, and how to creatively decorate cupcakes and other sweets to that they are appealing to the eye.

Tip: To make fresh buttercream from the scratch the butter must be room temperature or else it will not come out properly.
