Mentor In: Fondant, Bread, Cake
Why I want to be mentor: I've learned so much through trial and error and from gathering tips here and there. I'd love to help others be less intimidated and learn this rewarding art!
Lesson Learned: When the kitchen gets hot, your fondant is not cooperating, and your temper is flaring, it's time to walk away and cool down. Just remember....it's only cake!
Tip: Fondant too soft? add more powdered sugar or a bit of corn starch. Too dry and tearing? add a bit of water. Too sticky? add a bit more shortening.

Why I want to be mentor: I prefer to decorate with fondant as opposed to buttercream. The finished cake looks more professional.
Lesson Learned: It\'s so much easier to buy premade fondant than make your own!
Tip: Knead until easily pliable.

Mentor In: Appetizer, Dessert, Cake, Fondant, Camping, Crowd Cooking, Dinner Party
Why I want to be mentor: I'm a former professional caterer and professional baker, including tons of wedding/celebratory cakes under my belt...and yes, I did make my own wedding cake! Fondant used to intimidate the heck out of me...but a few tips and hints can make it so much fun you'll never make a cake without it again!
Lesson Learned: Fondant is like play doh...when you stop having fun, it\'s time to move on. Good thing that fondant is a blast...
Tip: Perfect fondant comes from a really good crumb coat underneath...it's worth the extra time and care!
