Why I want to be mentor: I think I\'m proficient in all aspects of vegetarian Indian cuisine and can help others learn the same. I love Indian food, its my passion! I can come up with precise recipes or help people on how to use the Indian spices. Also, a lot of people have a myth about Indian food being complicated and greasy. I would love to break this myth and help people understand the simple home cooked Indian meals, show them how easy they are to make with just a few extra ingredients in the pantry!
Lesson Learned: Knowing the spices and ingredients is the first step towards understanding a cuisine. Know what you are dealing with and try to understand the when to use and how much to use.
Tip: Taste your food as you are cooking and make sure you season it well. Underseasoned food is as bad as undercooked food.
Why I want to be mentor: I\'ve cooked for some of the Dalai Lama\'s monks, the Director of the Delhi Museum and President Clinton\'s California campaign staff. I\'m always learning and like to share my knowledge and love of Indian cooking with others.
Lesson Learned: That cooking is a meditation. It is a calming and precise thing. To lose oneself in the food and the experience is part of the pleasure. Outside of the eating that is.
Tip: Never be afraid to take your time, always taste as you go.
