Cooking, mostly gluten-free baking. Now that one of my Sisters has discovered that she is allergic to peanuts, I will be using nuts other than peanuts in my cooking.
I started a blog in November 2009: http://retiredwithnoregrets.blogspot.com.
It is a blog about life after retirement and gluten-free cooking.
Languages: completed 4 years of French in high school and college. Could read it, understand it, but never quite got the diction. I have forgotton most of it.
Books: Not much into finishing books. The last audio book that I actually finished was Bill Clinton's My Life.
Music: About 15 years ago, a friend and I were driving up the road to Mt. Rainier, when I noticed she was listening to classical music. I asked why. She said it was very relaxing. I have been hooked ever since. My favorite music now is anything by one of the Italian Tenors. I have lots of Pavarotti.
TV/Movies: Westerns are my thing. Movies like The quick and the Dead and Bad Girls are my favorites. My all time favorite movies are Gone with the Wind and Color Purple.
Travel: I prefer road trips. I spent so much time traveling for business that I am burned out. The security checks sealed the deal.
ABOUT ME
I retired at the end of July 2009 after about 30 years as a software engineer. I really liked working in the Information Technology arena, but could no longer bear the stress and office politics that often arises when layoffs begin.
I began work straight out of high school and into college. It is a bit shocking when one realizes that he or she has worked for pay 45 years!
My career took a path of department moves, relocation, more department moves and finally leaving one company going thru a merger, moving on to a new company, which also went thru a merger.
The oddity is I was never fired or laid off.
A gluten-free diet became a requirement in 2006. I am non-celiac severe gluten intolerant.
I have a Blog: Website: http://retiredwithnoregrets.blogspot.com.
