ABOUT ME
Hello! I am Maureen, from beautiful Brooklyn, Michigan in the lovely Irish Hills. I am a single mother of two wonderful, grown children. My amazing son, Ian, has married the love of his life and is a United States Marine stationed at Camp Pendelton, California. He is really doing great and I can't wait until the next time I get to see him and his wife, Katie. My daughter, Heather, is in her first year of college. She is a natural born star. This normally shy young lady comes alive when performing on stage. I love to watch her and to hear her sing. Heather still lives at home with me and we have 4 dogs (one dog we are keeping until Ian is in a position to take her home). I work as a legal secretary in Ann Arbor, Michigan. It is a long commute but I plug in a Book on CD and enjoy the scenery. It is a beautiful drive. My parents were both born and raised in Ireland and my mom was an incredibly talented baker. Every Sunday she spent the entire day in the kitchen. We would have a huge dinner on Sundays and she would also do baking to get us through the week. Although with 7 kids, her pies and cakes and breads never lasted more than a few days. When I was younger, I never paid attention to my mother's talents and hard work. I sure do appreciate her now. So, in honor of my mom, my first recipe will be her world famous Irish Soda Bread recipe.
