Allison
Here For: I'm looking for some new baking ideas. I love to bake cakes but I'm getting tired of doctoring up box cakes or having to spend 16 hours in the kitchen with a difficult recipe. I want to find something in between every now and a again.
Want to Learn How: I want to find some new fun, easy, and tasty recipes and meet some people that can give some new fresh ideas.
Heard about BakeSpace From: Tom. :)
Occupation: Violin Teacher
Company: private
Industry: Fine Art
Cooker or Caker: Caker
Bake/Cook Frequency: 1-5 times a week
Baking/Cooking Training: I've learned all I know from Mom, Grandma, aunts, and lots of books.
Favorite Food: How can I have favorites when there is soooo much out there?!
Favorite Food Moment: When I first learned to bake pies. I was assigned to bake all the pies for Thanksgiving one year. My mom showed me all the family recipes and showed me how to make the best pie crust. Well knowing me, I waited until the night before Thanksgiving and then tried to do it all at once. I was baking all night long! Finally at five in the morning after finishing my last pie (it was coconut cream to be precise) I went to bed. The next day I was very tired but pleased with the out come of all my work. As a bonus everyone loved my pies. Now I am the official pie maker in the family.
Favoriate Restaurant: I would have to say Flemings or Tona's on 25th.
Favorite Chef: My grandmother was my favorite chef. She always made a meal that tasted great, fed the troops, and then had leftovers. She always knew how to doctor up a boring recipe as well. I'm trying to follow in her footsteps with cooking.
In My Town Try: Green jello with carrots, funeral potatoes, or something with fry sauce... :)
Interests: I love the violin. I've played for 16 years now and I'm still going strong! I also love to teach violin... it keeps me going. I love to bake cake! Trying new recipes is always fun for me too. I love photography and art. I also love to do most anything outdoors... mostly in the summer though. I also love to go on car rides to random places. Life is just a big adventure in my eyes. :)
Languages: English... that's it. I've picked up on very small amounts of Italian, German, and French through playing violin, cooking, my dad, and eating out at all sorts of different restaraunts.
Books: Hm any that look interesting. I love fiction.
Music: All of the above.
TV/Movies: I'm not so big on TV but movies are great. I don't care much for slice and dice movies but most any other is fun for me.
Travel: I want to see everything! I think every place in the world has something to offer. One day I will have the chance travel to Europe but as for now the states are enough for me. They are every bit as interesting and have just as much to offer. In the past year I've been to four states and by the end of the year it will be ten or more! I'm so excited for it all!
