- 2 1/4 C flour
- 1 C + 2 T sugar
- 4 1/2 T cocoa powder
- 1 3/4 t baking soda
- 1 3/4 t baking powder
- 1 C + 2 T mayonnaise (not light)
- 1 C + 2 T cold water
- 2 1/4 t vanilla
- Mix dry ingredients.
- Add mayo and water.
- Mix until thoroughly blended. Add vanilla.
- Bake in a 9X13 pan 35-40 minutes at 350 degrees.
- Cool, then frost.
NotesThe family story is that someone back in the mists of time won a contest with this cake and the prize was $100. If you're a little thrown off by the mayonnaise in recipe, just think of it as eggs and oil!
