Why I Love This Recipe

Being a Rajasthani, I prefer the fried version of Modak. Its human tenancy to change a preparation according to taste and environment. I used anjeer because of its great texture and a its good combination with coconut

Ingredients You'll Need

For Dough- 250gm Rice Flour and Hot Water (as required )

For Filling-

(A) One Freshly Grated Coconut

(B) 100gm Milk Solids

(C) 150gm dried fig

(D) 100gm Almonds

(E) Jaggery Adjust According to Taste

(F) 1/4 tsp. Cardamom Powder

(G) A dash of nutmeg (to give a different dimension to the dish )

(H) Oil or ghee for deep frying

Directions

First kneed the dough in hot water so that the flour get cooked for once (as we don’t want that unpleasant rawness ) keep it aside for 10-15 min to rest. Mean while prepare the filling for this add all ingredients in a mixing bowl and mix them well .now cut the dough in 7-8 small balls and roll each ball in to small circles (small rotis) now stuff each dough circle with coconut & anjeer filling then after mould each roti in to modak .lastly deep fry all modaks in oil or ghee according to taste. serve hot with a good garnish of pistachio and dried rose petals.
