1-1/4 cups whole almonds
2-1/4 cups all-purpose flour
1-1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. almond extract
1/4 tsp. nutmeg
3/4 cup sugar
1/4 tsp. salt
1-1/2 tsp. vanilla extract
1/4 lb. salted butter, softened
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
Coarsely chop almonds and toast lightly.
Let cool. Mix all ingredients well.
Batter will be very thick.
Divide into 5 logs; shape evenly.
Bake for 45 minutes.
Remove from oven and slice each log diagonally into strips.
Put strips back into oven for 5 to 10 minutes until crispy.
Store tightly covered.
