ALMOND HALF MOONS

Ingredients

  • 1 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 cup butter
  • 2 1/2 cup flour
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 1/2 cup finely ground almonds
  • 1 1/2 tsp almond extract
  • 1 egg white beaten
  • Sliced almonds
  • Granulated sugar

Directions

  • Cream butter and sugar
  • Add egg, egg yolk and almond extract, beat well
  • Sift flour, baking powder and salt
  • Mix in ground almonds and add to butter mixture
  • Divide dough in half, make 2 rolls 2 inches wide
  • Wrap in wax paper and chill
  • Slice 1/4 inch thick, cut in half and form into half moons
  • Place on lightly greased cookie sheet
  • Brush with egg white and sprinkle with almonds
  • Bake at 350 for 10 minutes
  • Sprinkle with sugar while hot
