ALMOND HALF MOONS

INGREDIENTS

- 1 1/4 cup sugar
- 1 cup butter
- 2 1/2 cup flour
- 1 egg
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1 egg yolk
- 1/2 cup finely ground almonds
- 1 1/2 tsp almond extract
- 1 egg white beaten
- Sliced almonds
- Granulated sugar
DIRECTIONS
Cream butter and sugar
Add egg, egg yolk and almond extract, beat well
Sift flour, baking powder and salt
Mix in ground almonds and add to butter mixture
Divide dough in half, make 2 rolls 2 inches wide
Wrap in wax paper and chill
Slice 1/4 inch thick, cut in half and form into half moons
Place on lightly greased cookie sheet
Brush with egg white and sprinkle with almonds
Bake at 350 for 10 minutes
Sprinkle with sugar while hot
