American Peanut Butter Blossom Cookies
1/2 cup shortening (Crisco)
1/2 cup creamy peanut butter
2 tablespoons milk
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 3/4 cups plain flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup white granulated sugar
1/2 cup golden brown sugar
Mix shortening, peanut butter, egg, and wet ingredients together in a large bowl.
Then add flour and dry ingredients. Mix together well using a spoon at first and then your hands.
Roll into balls, ~ 1" diameter or smaller.
Bake at 190°C/375°F for 10 to 12 minutes or until cookies are nearly cooked through.
Remove from oven and press a Hershey kiss into the center of each cookie.
Return to the oven and bake for an additional 2 minutes.
Pairs Well With
This is a family favorite, usually made at Thanksgiving and Christmas.
It's better to use the silver Hershey kisses from the U.S. They hold up better during baking.
