Anne's Sesame Toasts
1 loaf French bread about 2" diameter
3/4 Cup (1-1/2 sticks) butter
3 Tsp. Oriental sesame oil
1 egg, lightly beaten
3/4 C. sesame seeds (about 3 oz)
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
2. Cut bread crosswise at a slight angle into 1/4" slices.
3. Melt butter with Oriental sesame oil in small saucepan. Brush both sides of bread slices with butter/oil mixture. Then brush one side of each slice with beaten egg. Dip egg side into sesame seeds to coat. Arrange slices seed-side up on cookie sheets.
4. Bake for 15-18 minutes or until toasts are golden and crisp. Cool on wire racks. Store in airtight container at room temperature for up to 1 week.
Note: Oriental Sesame Oil has more flavor than plain sesame oil so be sure to use the Oriental oil which can be found in the oriental foods section.
