Why I Love This Recipe

This is my mom's apple cranberry pie. I think it's really amazing, and if you tried it, you would think so too. It's my brother Isaac's favorite, and we have it every Thanksgiving.

Ingredients You'll Need

Crust:
1 ½ C flour
½ tsp salt
½ C butter (softened)
4-5 Tbs water

Filling:
6-7 tart apples
½ C-1 C cranberries
1 C sugar
¾ tsp cinnamon
1/8 tsp nutmeg
2 Tbs flour

Directions

Crust:

Mix flour and salt. Cut butter into flour with a pastry blender until it has the consistency of corn meal. Add water. Stir with finger until it clumps together. Form two balls. Roll out thin. Press one crust into a pie plate.

Filling:

Peel, core, and thinly slice apples. Set aside. Mix sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg and flour. Layer sugar mixture with apples in crust. Cover with second crust and pinch the edges all the way around. Poke a few holes in the top of the crust with a knife to allow steam to escape. Bake at 375 degrees for about 45 minutes. To test if it’s done, insert a knife into the middle of the pie. If the apples are soft and the crust is slightly browned, it’s done! Enjoy!
