not your traditional Chex mix - this has a definite asian twist to it. My Auntie Alice who was a wonderful cook came up with this original recipe and I have only made my own small personal tweaks to it over the years

  • 1 1/4 c sugar
  • 2c butter
  • 12 drops garlic tabasco sauce
  • 1 jar Furikake (japanese rice seasoning)
  • 1 box Krispix cereal (your choice of type)
  • 1/2 box cheerios
  • 1 bag pretzel sticks
  • 1 cup salted peanuts
  • 1 small box arare (japanese rice crackers)

  • cook sugar, butter, and tabasco sauce
  • mix cereals, pretzels, and nuts
  • Pour butter mix over mixture and mix well
  • add half container furikake over top and mix
  • lay on cookie sheet and bake for 30 minutes at 250 degrees
  • Toss mixture with the rest of the furikake and return to oven for another 30 minutes
  • Cool, then add arare (rice crackers)
  • Store in airtight container
