BBQ Baked Beans
32 oz can baked beans
1 C BBQ sauce
4 heaping TBSP brown sugar
1 TBSP chili powder
1/2 C ketchup
1/2 C water
1 C chopped brisket
Combine first six ingredients in a metal casserole dish (the smoker will ruin it for other things).
Put in smoker under meat early in cooking session to allow drippings to fall into beans.
Only needs a couple of hours, if doing a long smoke, you can collect the drippings in advance and mix in with beans when preparing and then smoke the last 1 - 2 hours of meat cooking time.
Chop 1 C of brisket and add to beans before serving.
Pairs Well With
Leaving the beans in too long will make them very thick and the drippings will burn into the beans. The drippings are what make the beans so great.
