Why I Love This Recipe
As a lover of pork ribs, I've made this many times, and while I have perfected the sauce, I continue to try adding different ingredients to balance the flavor. This is my current recipe.
P.S. the house smells amazing while this is cooking!!!
Ingredients You'll Need
1 large rack of Pork spare ribs (you can use country ribs as well if you like)
1 bottle of whatever good BBQ sauce you have in the fridge
1 cup of ketchup
1 cup of brown sugar (remember my recipe for this if you don't have - 1 cup sugar mixed with 1 tablespoon molasses, blend well)
2 tbl. molasses
5 cloves of garlic minced
1 onion diced small
1/2 cup of honey
1 tsp cayenne pepper
Dash of hot sauce
1 tsp. chili powder
Dash of Worcestershire sauce
1/2 cup of good quality real maple syrup (I have one with bourbon in it, so I used that!)
Directions
Mix all ingredients well (add a bit of water if need be)
Pour over and slather on the pork ribs
Cover TIGHTLY with heavy aluminum foil (or double regular aluminum)
Cook at 300 for about 2 1/2 hours
RESIST the temptation to open the foil, the steam works wonders with the meat and brings all the flavors together
After 2 1/2 hours of cooking, remove the foil, and bring oven up to 425 for about 1/2 hour until the juices are reduced and the ribs are carmelized with the sauce.
