Why I Love This Recipe

This is a simple from-scratch recipe that my family has used since before I was born. This recipe makes about 16, 4" pancakes. What makes these special is that it calls for a lot of butter! (And NOT the "unsalted" kind!) This recipe is a base recipe and is perfect for adding details such as chocolate chips, blueberries, or cinnamon.

Ingredients You'll Need

1 1/2 cup white flour

2 tbsp white sugar

1 1/2 tsp baking powder

1/2 tsp salt

1 1/2 cup milk

8 tbsp salted butter

2 large eggs

3/4 tsp vanilla extract


Directions

In a large bowl, mix thoroughly:


1 1/2 cup white flour


2 tbsp white sugar


1 1/2 tsp baking powder


1/2 tsp salt


In a separate large bowl, melt the butter.


Mix following ingredients into the melted butter:


1 1/2 cup milk


2 large eggs


3/4 tsp vanilla extract


Pour the wet mixture into the flour mixture.


Whisk very well, until all clumps are dissolved.


(If you want to add any additional ingredients, now is the time.)


Butter a skillet and fry small glops of batter just less than 1/2 cup.
