BOURBON BROWNIES

Ingredients

  • 3/4 c flour
  • 1tsp baking soda
  • 1tsp salt
  • 1c sugar
  • 1/3 c butter
  • 2 tsp water
  • 1 c chocolate chips
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1 1/2 c nuts
  • 1/3 c bourbon
  • White Frosting:
  • 1/2 c butter
  • 2 c powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp bourbon
  • Chocolate Glaze:
  • 1 pkg (6oz) chocolate chips
  • 1 tbsp vegetable oil

Directions

  • Sift together flour, salt and soda. Combine sugar, butter and water; cook over low heat until reaches boiling point, stirring constantly. Add chocolate chips and vanilla, stirring until chocolate chips melt. Add eggs, one at a time; beat well. Add mixture to dry ingredients, mixing well. Add nuts and stir until mixed well.
  • Bake in a 9-inch greased pan at 325F (200C) for 30-35 minutes.
  • Sprinkle 1/3 cup of bourbon over top and let cool.
  • After cooled completely, spread with white frosting (just mix all ingredients listed together).
  • Then, spread with chocolate glaze over the top (made by melting choc chips, then adding the vege oil)

I'm trying to create a Deep Thought cake for a 42nd birthday, and had decided to use brownies to build the cake up into the required 3 D shape. Alcoholic brownies prefered *g* Because Em loves me, she found me the following recipe, sourced from the 'Greenup Extension Homemaker Anniversary Cookbook'
