Brownie Pudding Cake

Ingredients

1 1/4 cups flour
3/4 cup sugar
5 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
2/3 cup milk
3 tablespoons vegetable oil
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/2 cup semisweet chocolate
1/3 cup nuts, chopped
1 cup brown sugar, packed
1 3/4 cups boiling water
whipped cream topping


Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease a shallow 2 quart baking dish. In a bowl, stir together the flour, sugar, 3 tablespoons of cocoa powder, baking powder and salt until well blended. Add the milk, oil, and vanilla, stirring until moistened. Stir in the chocolate chips and nuts. Spread evenly in the baking dish. In another bowl, stir together the brown sugar and remaining 2 tablespoons of cocoa powder until blended. Sprinkle evenly over the batter in the baking dish. Evenly pour the boiling water over the top (do not stir). Bake for about 35-40 minutes or until theh top of the cake is set and the sauce is very bubbly and looks thickened. Let stand for about 20 minutes before serving. To serve, spoon the warm cake and sauce into dessert dishes. Top with a spoonful of the whipped cream topping.
