BUTTER HORNS

Ingredients

  • 1 cup milk, scalded, set aside to cool
  • 1/4 cup warm water
  • 1 pkg yeast
  • 1/2 lb butter
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 4 cups flour
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 3 tbls sugar
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup nuts, finely ground
  • 1/4 cup melted butter
  • Cinnamon

Directions

  • Sift flour sugar and salt
  • Work 1/2 lb butter into flour mixture with fingers
  • Add eggs
  • Mix yeast and water to dissolve,
  • Add yeast, milk and vanilla, knead until smooth
  • Make horn shaped cookies
  • Brush with melted butter
  • Sprinkle with sugar, nuts and cinnamon
  • Allow to rise
  • Bake at 350 for about 25 minutes
