2 3/4 cups flour
2 tsp. cream of tartar
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking soda
1 cup shortening
1 1/2 cups sugar
2 tsp. vanilla
Combine the flour, cream of tartar, cinnamon, salt and baking soda in a bowl.
In another bowl, cream together the shortening, sugar, eggs and vanilla.
Add the dry ingredients to the creamed until completely incorporated.
Chill the dough for at least 1 hour.
When ready to bake, roll the dough into balls, then roll in a mixture of 1?4 cup sugar and 1 tablespoon cinnamon.
Place on cookie sheets and bake at 350 degrees F for 9 to 11 minutes.
