  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 2 cans Pinto Beans
  • 2 cans stewed tomatoes (I use Italian flavored)
  • 2 pounds ground beef
  • 1 can tomato soup
  • 1 can water
  • chili powder, salt, pepper
  • 1 large cabbage, chopped


  • Pour all of the ingredients in a large pot. Add the chopped cabbage, you might have to push the pot lid down at firs to get it all in. As it cooks, it reduces. Cook over medium heat until cooked all the way through. Enjoy!


This recipe was given to me by a very good friend that introduced me to my future husband. I have made it several times over the past 30 years. Everyone in my family makes it now. It sure is good when it is cold outside.
