Cajun Shrimp Jambalaya

Why I Love This Recipe

A hearty mixture that is reminiscent of New Orleans.


Ingredients You'll Need

2 teaspoons olive oil
1 yellow onion
2 cloves garlic
1 pound chicken
3 sausage links
4 cups chicken broth
2 cups uncooked brown rice
1 cup celery
1 green bell pepper
1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1/2 teaspoon onion powder
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon basil
1/2 teaspoon thyme
1 teaspoon smoked paprika
Salt to taste
Pepper to taste
1 pound shrimp


Directions

Heat oil in a large pot over medium-high heat. Add the onion and garlic and cook for 3 minutes, stirring constantly.


Then add the chicken and sausage and cook for 5 minutes.


Once the meat is mostly cooked, add the broth, rice, celery, bell pepper, and spices to the pot.


Bring to a boil then reduce heat to medium-low, cover, and simmer for 45 minutes.


Lastly, add the shrimp and cook for another 5 minutes.
