Ingredients

4 cups brown sugar
1 can ( 14 oz) sweetened condensed milk
2 cups light corn syrup
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 pound butter
1 teaspoon vanilla


Grease 9 x 13 pan.


Combine brown sugar, condensed milk, corn syrup, salt, and butter in a medium saucepan.


Using a candy thermometer, cook to 240 degrees, stirring constantly.


Add vanilla and cook to 248 degrees.


Pour mixture into greased pan. Cool.


When cool, removed and put onto a cutting board. Cut into bit sized squares and wrap individually in wax paper.

I remember making caramels with Grandma Vi when I was a child. I love keeping up the tradition of making these every year for Christmas.
