CARL’S CABBAGE CREAM PIE

Ingredients

  • Filling Ingredients:
  • 3 T butter
  • 1 onion
  • 1 small cabbage
  • 1/8 tsp Shredded basil, marjoram, tarragon
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/2 lb mushrooms
  • 4 oz cream cheese
  • 4 or 5 hard-boiled eggs, sliced
  • Dill
  • Pastry Ingredients:
  • 1-1/4 C flour
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 3 T butter
  • 4 oz. cream cheese

Directions

  • Directions: Filling
  • Melt 2 tablespoons butter.
  • Add onion and cabbage.
  • Add 1/8 tsp of spices, salt and pepper.
  • Cook until cabbage wilts.
  • Set cabbage mixture aside.
  • Sauté mushrooms.
  • Directions: Pastry
  • Sift dry ingredients.
  • Cut in butter.
  • Work in cream cheese.
  • Roll out 2/3 in pie shell.
  • Save 1/3 for top.
  • Directions: Assembly
  • Fill pastry shell with cream cheese.
  • Add the egg, dill, cabbage, mushroom.
  • Top with pastry.
  • Bake at 400 degrees for 15 minutes (or at 350 degrees for 20-25 minutes).
