Why I Love This Recipe

Another recipe from my husband's Aunt Carol. She loved to cook and bake and collect recipes. I like this recipe because everything goes into one bowl. This is a good chocolate cake with a nice texture. There are no eggs or milk in this interesting cake.


Ingredients You'll Need

3 cup flour
2 tsp baking soda
1 tsp salt
1/2 cup cocoa
1 cup sugar

1 cup vegetable oil
2 Tbsp. white vinegar
2 tsp vanilla
2 cups water


Directions

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.


Grease and flour 2 9" round cake pans (or 1 9 X 13 inch cake pan).


In a large bowl, mix flour, soda, salt, cocoa, and sugar until well combined.


Make a 'well' in the center of the flour mixture. Add the oil, vinegar, vanilla, and water into the well.


Mix the batter with an electric mixer for about 2 minutes.


Pour batter evenly into the prepared pan.


Bake for 30 to 35 minutes or until cake tests done.


Cool cakes slightly in the pans; remove cakes and continue to cool on wire racks.


Top and fill with your favorite frosting, or use Carol's Easy Chocolate Frosting recipe in this book.
