Why I Love This Recipe

The first time I made this I had shredded the cabbage and saw a cat in my garden. I banged on the window to scare the cat away and broke the inner pane of glass into my cabbage. Rather than throw it away I filled my sink with water and swished the cabbage to get the glass to sink to the bottom off the cabbage. Must have gotten it all.

Ingredients You'll Need

3 cups cooked meat such as chicken, pork or beef
3 cups chicken or beef broth
3 tbsp. oil
3 tbsp. soy sauce
3/4 tsp. salt
3 cups shredded cabbage
1 1/2 cups sliced celery
1/2 cup sliced green pepper
1 1/2 cups onion rings
1 can bean sprouts (can use fresh)
3 tbsp. cornstarch
1 pkg. chow mein noodles

Directions

If a raw chicken is used cook it and remove the meat from the bones.

Chop the meat finely.

Saute in the oil, then add stock, soy sauce and salt.

Toss the prepared vegetables together, place on top of meat and bring to a boil and simmer 7 minutes or until vegetables are tender.

Add bean sprouts and thicken with cornstarch. Stir until smooth and clear.

Serve on a platter with noodles or boiled rice. Add shredded scrambled eggs if desired.

**if you want low mein use soft noodles.
