Why I Love This Recipe

This recipe came from my aunt Karalee. These were always my favorite cookies as a kid. So every year for my birthday she would make a bunch of them, then she would bag them up and give them to me along with her gift.

Ingredients You'll Need

2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
1 cup (2 sticks) butter
3/4 cup granulated sugar
3/4 cup packed brown sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 large eggs
2 cups (12-oz. pkg.) chocolate chips


Mix flour, sugars, baking powder and salt. Cut in shortening, peanut butter, egg and vanilla.

Shape by teaspoons into balls. Place 2 inches apart on un-greased cookie sheet, Flatten in crisscross pattern with a fork dipped in flour. Bake 10- 12 minutes until light brown. Remove from sheet right away to cool.
