- 1 stick of butter
- 1 cup sugar
- 1/4 cup cocoa
- 1/2 cup milk
- 2 tsp vanilla
- Melt butter, sugar, cocoa, and milk in a heavy pot. Stir continuously.
- Boil of 3-4 minutes until it is at the soft ball stage.
- Remove, and pour into a stainless steel bowl.
- Add vanilla.
- Beat til it thickens.
- After mixing all ingredients, put it in the freezer for a few hours to thicken.
NotesMy mom would always make me the same cake for my birthday: a yellow box cake with homemade chocolate icing! Since I grew up on this delicious icing, I can hardly tolerate canned icing... I'm just so used to the real thing! :)
