Why I Love This Recipe
This is Harold Wolfe's recipe. He always brought chopped herring and chopped liver to family gatherings.
Ingredients You'll Need
16 oz. herring in wine sauce
8 hard boiled eggs
1 large onion
2 apples, cored and quartered
4 slices bread, minus crusts
Grind all ingredients together and season with pepper.
Discard excess juice.
Save one egg yolk and grate on top for garnish
I usually make just half a recipe.
I make it in the food processor, but grind each item separately, not too finely,
then mix all together.
It should not be mushy.
I think you should be able to see pieces of the individual ingredients.
