BackstoryThis is The Ultimate BBQ Sauce. Since I found this recipe, I haven't bought BBQ Sauce from the store at all. Once you try this recipe you will agree too. This sauce is from Steven Raichlen's cookbook. The only difference is my addition of Brown Sugar.
This sauce can and Will keep for several months refrigerated.
Use this as you would any sauce. It has a strong affinity for Chicken, Ribs and Pork.
- 1 C. Coca-Cola
- 1 C. Ketchup
- 1/4 C. Worcestershire Sauce
- 1 tsp. Liquid Smoke
- 1/4 A-1 Steak Sauce
- 1/2 tsp. Onion Powder
- 1/2 tsp. Garlic Powder
- 1/2 tsp. Black Pepper
- 1 C. Brown Sugar
- Combine all of the ingredients in a large heavy saucepan and gradually bring to a boil over medium heat.
- Reduce the heat slightly to obtain a gentle simmer. Simmer the sauce until reduced, about 30 minutes or so.
- Transfer the sauce into a into a clean jar or jars and let cool to room temp. Then refrigerate until serving.
