2 cups of white corn flour
2 and 1/2 cups of water
Mix the ingredients and let the dough rest 10 to 15 minutes.
Make arepas forming a ball the size of a fist, then flattened to form a thick disc.
Cook on a hot griddle until a crust forms (arepa begins to smoke).
Flip it over and cook the other side.
Flip it over many times during the 15 minutes cooking time.
They can be eaten simple or filled: to fill cut in half and put butter or cheese or any other sauces.
Pairs Well With
Typical Colombia side dish, used from breakfast to dinner, accompanied by meat or sauces.
