Cream Cheese Cookies

Ingredients

1 cup sugar
1 cup butter, softened
3 ounces cream cheese
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 egg yolk, save white
2 cups flour


Combine all ingredients except flour and egg white. Blend well, then stir in flour. Refrigerate at least 1 1/2 hours. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Divide chilled dough into three balls. On a lightly floured cutting board, roll out one ball to 1/8 inches thickness. With flour-coated cookie cutters, cut out shapes and place on cookie sheet, at least a half inch apart. Brush with beaten egg white and sprinkle lightly with sugar. Bake for 8-10 minutes. Follow the same directions with the other two balls of dough. Makes 5 dozen cookies.
