Why I Love This Recipe
This recipe was a favorite in rhe family my grandmother use to make this every holiday. It means a lot to me to carry on the families tradition but with my own little spin on it (crumb top). It is one of my most prized dishes and I would like everyone to have the ability to enjoy what my family has enjoyed for many years.
Ingredients You'll Need
FILLING:
6LB can of sliced peaches or 10-15 fresh peaches skinned, seeded,and sliced
2 cups of brown sugar
11/2 tbsp of ground cinnamon
1 tsp ground nutmeg
2 1/2 tbsp of vanilla extract or vanilla flavoring
1/2 lemon seeded and queezed
Cornstarch slurry:
2 cups of cornstarch
3 cups of water
Crumb Topping:
1 cup of granulated sugar
1 cup of brown sugar
2 cups of all purpose flour
2 sticks of melted butter
Directions
Pre heat oven to 350°F
Pour peach juice into a sauce pot.
Add brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg and lemon juice
whisk together until properly combined
add cornstarch and water to make a slurry
add the slurry to the peach juice mixture
let simmer until glaze becomes translucent
place peached in an roaster pan sprinkle with a little more cinnamon and brown sugar
pour glaze over peaches and fold in the peaches until coverd
in medium mixing bowl combine the flour, granulated sugar and brown sugar miz well until blended
starting slow add the melted butter to the flour and sugar mixture
using a fork blend in the melted butter with the mixture
once all the butter is incorporated, using your hands to crumble the mixture
once it is all crumbs evenly coat the top of peaches
place in oven until the topping is golden brown
Cool, serve refrigerate or freeze
