Ingredients

Crust:
1 cup flour
1 stick butter
2 T ice cold water

Top:
1 cup water
1 stick butter
1 tsp almond extract
1 cup flour
3 eggs

Icing:
2 cups powdered sugar
2 T milk
4 T butter
1 tsp almond extract
1 pkg sliced almonds


For the crust, cut butter into flour like a pie crust. Add water. Form into 2 even balls. On a cookie sheet, press into two equal strips. Set aside.


For the top, put water and butter into sauce pan. Heat until butter melts; add almond extract. Remove from heat and stir in flour. Add eggs one at a time, stirring til dough is shiny. Spread evenly over two strips. Bake at 350° for 60 minutes. Remove from oven and cool.


For the icing: Mix all ingredients except almonds. Frost cooled pastry. Sprinkle with nuts.
