DANISH PUFFS

Ingredients

  • Dough:
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • Filling:
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1 teaspoon almond flavor
  • 1 cup flour
  • 3 eggs
  • Powdered Sugar Icing
  • 1 cup sifted powdered sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 tablespoon milk or orange juice

Directions

  • Preheat oven to 350.
  • Mix 1 cup flour, 1/2 cup butter and 2 tablespoons water like pie dough.
  • Pat on cookie sheet in 2-12x3 inch rolls.
  • Bring 1 cup water to boil.
  • Add 1/2 cup butter and 1 tsp almond flavor.
  • Boil, remove from heat and add 1 cup flour all at once.
  • Beat until smooth.
  • Add eggs, one at a time.
  • Beat after each egg until smooth.
  • Spread over dough.
  • Bake at 350 for 1 hour.
  • Cool.
  • Frost with powdered sugar icing:
  • In a small bowl combine powdered sugar, vanilla, and milk.
  • Stir in additional milk or juice, 1 teaspoon at a time, until it reached drizzling consistency.
  • Makes 1/2 cup.
  • Sprinkle with chopped nuts if desired.
  • Best if eaten the same day as baked.
