BackstoryMy Aunt recently passed away and I was given her recipe box. She was one who would make wonderful things and share them with everyone, but NOT her recipes.
I made this cake a few months ago and it was wonderful and I am not a white cake person, however, once every year or two I get a craving for one.
- 1 1/4 cups sugar
- 1/2 cup shortening (not butter or margarine)
- 2 eggs
- 1/2 cup milk
- 2 cups flour
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 3 tsp. baking powder
- pinch salt
- Place all ingredients in bowl and beat for 10 minutes.
- Put in a 9" x 12" pan and bake at 350 degrees for 25-30 minutes.
