My Aunt recently passed away and I was given her recipe box. She was one who would make wonderful things and share them with everyone, but NOT her recipes.

I made this cake a few months ago and it was wonderful and I am not a white cake person, however, once every year or two I get a craving for one.


  • 1 1/4 cups sugar
  • 1/2 cup shortening (not butter or margarine)
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 3 tsp. baking powder
  • pinch salt


  • Place all ingredients in bowl and beat for 10 minutes.
  • Put in a 9" x 12" pan and bake at 350 degrees for 25-30 minutes.
