This is so easy, and yet it makes a splash at dinner parties. I won't tell your guests how easy it is if you don't tell mine.


  • 1 pkg. refrigerated pie crusts
  • 1 21 oz. can fruit pie filling
  • 1/2 tsp. citrus zest
  • egg wash
  • sugar
  • Good fruit filling/citrus zest combos: Apple/Lemon, Peach/Lemon, Cherry/Orange, Blueberry/ Lemon or Orange


  • Pre-heat oven to 350
  • Line a baking sheet with parchment paper
  • Unroll one pie crust on baking sheet
  • Pour can of pie filling into center of pie crust, leaving a 1 1/4" (or so) border
  • Sprinkle zest over filling
  • Fold pie crust up and over edges of filling, pleating
  • Brush egg wash over crust
  • Sprinkle with sugar
  • Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until golden brown, rotating sheet to evenly cook
